2023: A Southern Slavic Midsummer-Zivoli!

SAVE THE DATE • JUNE 17, 2023
A Southern Slavic Midsummer-Zivoli!
The Herb Lamppa Civic Center and St. Mary’s Hall will be alive with festivities!

Brothers Mike and Dan Skorich and their friend, Joe Miskovich will be the chefs preparing the food which will include recipes brought to this country by their parents and grandparents. If you’ve never had sarma, kupesa and gras (chuspice and pogacha), lamb, beef  and other meats sizzling on an outdoor rotisserie, you’re in for a treat. Other featured delicacies will be potica, strudel and other desserts from the southern Slavic countries where thousands of Iron Range families originated.

This is your chance to taste this delicious fare. Volunteers will be needed on June 16 to help cut vegetables, grind meat, press
garlic and learn about Southern Slavic cuisine. To volunteer or help on our Midsummer Committee email: LVCC President Mary Smilanich Batinich at: malexbat@gmail.com.

We will need people familiar with Slavic music, dance, traditions and history to make this a spectacular event!
If your ancestors came from Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bostnia, Herzegovina, Dalmatia, Montenegro or Macedonia, we want to hear your stories which we will share that afternoon at a presentation before our dinner. Native costumes are encouraged and dancers, singers, plus musicians will be in great demand. We will also have a special tribute to the Slavic people of Ukraine as they struggle to remain free.
