David Pearsall, Reading & Book Signing

A year ago David Pearsall published a book about his father, the late J. Edward Pearsall, surviving four years as a POW of the Japanese on Wake Island in the Pacific.

Now Pearsall has completed a second edition of “Son of Wake Island,” with additional information and more photos.

Pearsall said in an email, “I have added a special dedication in the front of the book ‘Dedicated to the World War II Veterans from Minnesota’s Iron Range’ with a photo image of the Veterans Memorial in Virginia. A special inclusion. Very fitting, as my dad was great friends with so many of these vets including other POWs from different parts of the war.”

Pearsall said the new edition contains updates on the last two Wake Island survivors. “Some new images I was able to obtain, a new foreword from a Wake historian and some new content. However, it’s the same heartfelt story of my father and his fellow defenders of Wake Island. There are many references to Virginia and the Iron Range and growing up here.”
