Celebrating Norway!
In the 19th Century, only Ireland sent a larger percentage of its population to the New World than did Norway. The hardships endured by the hearty and brave Norsks when they came to our part of the New World have left us a legacy of art, music, crafts, dance, education and endurance which we in these parts treasure regardless of our national origin.
We are proud to announce that the Lake Vermilion Cultural Center’s Midsummer Celebration will feature NORWAY on June 19, 2021 at the Tower Civic Center. Watch our Facebook page and look for plans which include ta performance by the Midsummer Singers directed by Janice Kimes, stories, dance, songs, auction treasures, and fine dining.
The Midsummer Gala is a benefit for the Lake Vermilion Cultural Center. The LVCC is restoring the former St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, now located on the main street of Tower. When finished, the historic building will be repurposed as a cultural/community center and auditorium for the Tower, Soudan and Lake Vermilion area. If you can’t attend this benefit, please donate online or mailing a check made out to LVCC to P.O. Box 659, Tower, MN. 55790.
